A 1950s GMC, reborn as a premium mobile kitchen

The DinerLiner started life as a classic 1950s GMC cab-over-engine truck. We're converting it from the ground up into a fully equipped commercial kitchen on wheels - designed for festivals, backstage hospitality, and brand activations. It will offer both full service with our crew and dry hire for your own activation team. Follow the build below.

Where we are right now

Vehicle Acquired

COMPLETE

A classic 1949 GMC COE cab-over-engine truck sourced in the US as the base for the DinerLiner - full of character and built to last.

Transported to Workshop

COMPLETE

The GMC cab imported to the UK and transported to The Intergalactic Custom Shop, ready to begin its transformation from vintage workhorse to premium mobile kitchen.

Cab Swap onto Donor Chassis

COMPLETE

The GMC cab is carefully trimmed and modified to sit on a 1982 Chevy G30-based motorhome chassis. Powered by a 350cc Small block V8 engine already converted to LPG to keep running costs to a minimum. Adjustable air suspension fitted on all corners to enable a smooth ride and levelling out on uneven terrain.

Kitchen Frame Construction

COMPLETE

Steel cage framework fabricated and fitted to the rear, forming the skeleton of the kitchen and serving area.

Bodywork Restoration

COMPLETE

The cab stripped back, rust removed, and bodywork restored and primed - preparing the exterior for its final finish.

Aluminium Cladding

COMPLETE

Hand-rivetted and polished aluminium panels fitted to the kitchen body - giving the DinerLiner its signature “Airstream” look.

Kitchen Fit-Out

Commercial kitchen equipment, plumbing, gas, and electrics to be installed inside the body.

Branding & Paint

Final paintwork, exterior branding, signage, and the full DinerLiner identity coming together.

First Cook & Launch

Final testing, gas and electrical and EHO certification, and the first official DinerLiner service.
